directs the sectors of the education department: the general secondary education sector, the organizational and personnel work sector, the methodical cabinet;

realizes the analysis and forecasting of the development of the network of schools and pre-school institutions in the city;

directs the issues of teaching and educational process in educational institutions;

carries out control over the performance of attestation of educational institutions, administrative civil servants of the department, directors of educational institutions and teachers;

plans activity of the education department (long-term planning);

controls the implementation of regulatory documents, the management of EDOs in the Division;

carries out control over the quality of education in educational institutions (UNT, PGK, the implementation of state standards, the conduct of final and state certification of students, olympiads, competitions on the quality of education among educational organizations, teachers, etc.);

directs the work of the city expert council;

exercises control over the implementation of state and regional programs of informatization of the education system, ensuring the quality of education, organization and quality of innovative work in educational institutions;

monitors the quality of school preparation for the new academic year;

supervises work with the reserve of management personnel;

controls the organization of paid educational services in the city's schools;

prepares the final analytical information on the work of the department and educational institutions;

prepares and supervises the preparation of meetings, Boards of Directors, hardware meetings on functional issues;

conducts reception of citizens on personal issues.
