Articulation gymnastics.
In speech therapy practice articulation implies the work of the organs of speech when pronouncing syllables, words, phrases. The organs of articulation include: vocal cords, lips, tongue, lower jaw, pharynx, etc. Coordination of the organs of articulation occurs in the speech zones of the cortex and subcortical formations of the brain.
Speech sounds are formed as a result of a complex complex of movements of articulatory organs. The development of this or that movement opens the possibility of mastering those speech sounds that could not be uttered because of their absence. We correctly pronounce different sounds, both in isolation and in the speech stream, thanks to the strength, good mobility and differentiated work of the organs of the sound-speaking apparatus. Thus, pronunciation of speech sounds is a complex motor skill.
The method of education of sound pronunciation by specific gymnastics is recognized by a number of well-known theorists and practitioners specializing in speech disorders.
Articulatory gymnastics is a set of special exercises aimed at strengthening the muscles of the articulatory apparatus, the development of strength, mobility and differentiation of movements of the organs involved in the speech process.
The purpose of articulation gymnastics is to develop full-fledged movements and certain positions of the organs of the articulation apparatus, the ability to combine simple movements into complex ones necessary for the correct pronunciation of sounds.
The most mobile organ of articulation, on which the quality of pronunciation of sounds depends, is the language. A large part of the exercises of articulation gymnastics refers specifically to the language as the most deliberative body.
It is necessary to carry out articulation gymnastics every day so that the skills developed in children are fixed. When selecting exercises for articulation gymnastics, it is necessary to observe a certain sequence, go from simple exercises to more complex ones. Articulation exercises are performed sitting, since in this position the child has a straight back, the body is not tense, the arms and legs are in a calm position.
